This map shows walkable nature access for every census block in Seattle — helping you find neighborhoods where parks and green spaces are within walking distance.
Each of Seattle's ~10,000 census blocks gets a 0–100 score based on walking distance to the nearest substantial park (20+ acres). Closer = higher score.
90–100: Park within 5–10 min walk
60–80: Park within 15–25 min walk
Below 40: No large park within easy walking distance
27 parks and green spaces of 20+ acres, including Discovery Park (534 ac), Magnuson Park (350 ac), Seward Park (300 ac), and smaller gems like Kubota Garden (20 ac). Small playfields and pocket parks are excluded — this measures access to substantial natural areas.
Distances are calculated from each block's centroid to the nearest park, with a 1.3× grid-walking multiplier (you can't walk in a straight line through buildings). Block boundaries come from the 2020 Census; neighborhood polygons from Seattle GeoData.
Scores don't account for terrain (hills make walks harder), park quality/features, trail access points, or transit connections. The 20-acre threshold means some well-loved smaller parks aren't included. This is a starting point, not the full picture.
